I really f-in hate Marie here. Her entire dialogue is a load of horsesh*t if you consider the fact of the list of things she did in her previous life. She abused her brother emotionally and physically for monetary gain. She even went so far as to threaten him with falsified claims just so he'd play the stupid game, despite knowing fully well he's over-exhausted from constant work and having to deal with her sh*t.

Not to mention, MC's last message to his parents exposed her other evil deeds towards their own parents that she constantly did to them behind their backs, just so she could continue getting their favor and money and live her bourgeois life with her "friends". Even after MC died she never changed. (Details withheld) She continued her happy-go-lucky lifestyle without regard for her direct family, like a continuous downward spiral as she does whatever she wants regardless of the effects to the people around her. This, going so far as for it to end up with her life and her own family's life in a horrible way.

And here we see her protecting Hertrude with the reasoning "Because she feels like wants to do it so let her!" How stupid. She knew the price of using that flute. She knew the price of war. She chose that and now she lost everything as a result. Now she wants to mess everything up like a petulant child lashing out at the consequences of her own actions. And then she calls the concerns of Livia and Angelica "empty words" just because she doesn't like the character in the game. Goes to show that Marie really doesn't have any actual care towards other people's lives. She only spoke up because she saw herself in Hertrude at the time, and because she constantly feels like she's a victim when it's all her fault in the first place.

If I recall, they did show she was this psychopathic even as a child. She would cry and stop walking because she understood even then that eventually somebody/the MC would eventually have to give up and go back and carry her on his back. That somebody would have to clean up her mess for her. And she would do that because she just doesn't want to walk back home even though the source of the trouble was her in the first place. This was honestly one of the worst parts of the novel too as from how she is characterized, it seems it never really gets resolved.

Damn manga really went down the drain with latest chapters. The hell is this wymen feelings arc?
