The soldiers were utterly depressed upon seeing how decent and good the features of his mothership class was because their mothership was apparently built under the "preferences" of their captain which just plain sucked despite the amount of money spent on it. They mention that out of pure preference, their ship had a specific cooking machine installed in the kitchen that could only make good tea and pastries but every other kind of food and drink it makes just horribly sucks. Meanwhile, MC's kitchen had a cooking machine model that's known for being able to make good tasting food in general. I guess the officer in charge was thinking what if they bought their own ship and left the captain, but he was surprised by how expensive it would take.

More precisely, it's similar to a highly vibrating sword. They're extremely sharp and can cut though a lot of things like light sabers but they aren't "lasers". They're also a symbol of nobility hence, for normal people, seeing someone with a sword means "he/she is a noble" (that's why the two guys who were trying to flirt with Serena in a previous chapter, ran away as soon as they saw her sword).

However swords do have a few problems:

One of those problems is pretty obvious: You need to get close to the target in order to cut it. In that world, it's more difficult than expected as most battles take place in space. The ship used by this noble before was created due to the nobles' insistence (or more exactly: fanaticism) and, despite having powerful shields & great speed, it's still called an "expensive coffin" due to its low success rate.

Another problem that swords have is that... Well... While they cut though most things, they can't really cut though shields and hulls. Hiro's power armor offers quite a lot of strengh and powerful defenses (at the expense of speed) so that's why he's saying a "Too bad for you" at the end of this chapter: He's fine.

And there's also a limit in what humans can do. That's why pretty much all nobles use implants to boost their body. Some implants can help them manage their territory and do their work. Some can boost their physical abilities like strengh, agility, reaction speed. Reaction speed in particular is quite useful in order to deflect lasers.

just as dark said. in WN and LN. its mostly shown in illustrations or explanations. for example. in the WN. this guy its using an exo skeleton that help him boost his phisical abilities. but here in manga he its using a noble outfit. if i remember in WN. that noble its described like Raiden from metal gear. well. soon MC will know thats the price for defeating a noble XD

Sum up (made by basing myself on the novel):

After getting hit by an Interdictor (technology used to forcefully bring a ship back to normal space - can't be avoided by most ships - often used by pirates), MC notices that something is wrong: The opponents aren't "pirates" at all but old military ships. So he prepares himself. Thanks to that, he manages to avoid getting destroyed once the military ships start firing at him. They aren't interested in the other ship that MC was escorting at all and just continue to target MC.

In order to avoid getting hit, MC goes straight toward the battleship's blind spot and maintains a close distance. Due to that, all the enemy ships are unable to use their most powerful weapons as MC is using the battleship as a "shield". So they are forced to use smaller ships... against a ship that can obliterate those...

Mind you that MC could also use some torpedos against the enemy ships but, as they're technically "military", he judges that it's better to simply destroy the smaller ships and acts only in self-defense. Well... Another reason is that those torpedos are expensive and "destroying military ships" wouldn't allow him to collect any bounty at all.

After a short period of time, the Lt Commander Serena arrives with her fleet and demands that the enemy ships stop fighting & depower their engines. After all, they are from the same country so she can't really shoot them down without giving them an opportunity to surrender and get ready to be court martialed. However the enemies... Well... They completely ignore her and become more desperate, trying everything to bring MC down even if it means damaging the battleship.

After running out of patience, Serena finally orders her fleet to fire at the enemies. As he can't use the battleship as a shield anymore, MC takes some distance from his previous "shield". All the enemies are still focused on him, completely ignoring Serena's fleet (they don't want to fire on the military of their own country after all), even leaving their flanks exposed so they quickly take some heavy hits.

At the end, MC managed to hide himself by using a damaged heavy cruiser and he doesn't plan on leaving this place until Serena takes full control of the situation. Leaving his hiding spot would mean exposing himself after all... and the enemies might try to kill him once again. After a few moments, the enemy battleship finally surrenders and depowers its generator. The First Mate is now in command as the Captain has decided to take his own life.
